Pune, India
This place is an institution in Pune, started in the 50’s it was then a place for students and others who looked for homelike meals on an everyday basis. Even till date the place has patrons who come for their daily dose of a Maharashtrian Thali with a Northern Karnataki influence given the owners come from Karwar, Karnataka.
Priced at Rs 140 for unlimited food, it comprises 3 vegetables, rasam, dal/lentil, chapattis, salad and curd. They have certain specialties like the Sprouted Moong curry on Thursdays, Masala Bhaat and Alu chi Amti (Colacasia Leaves curry) etc which draws patrons to them. Desserts come at an extra cost of Rs 40 a portion and I devoured some homemade Amrakhand to end my Sunday lunch. Do try their Shrikhand and Gulab Jamuns both homemade apart from an array of out sourced sweets.
Last words, no frill place with great food light on your gut and your pocket. Go explore!
