‘Factory Hours’- 1st Brewhouse, Brewpub

Pune, India

I had visited this place in 2010 for the first time and distinctly remember their Alphonso Mango and Karvand (an indigenous fruit from the Western Ghats) flavoured beerfirst brew house acommonmandines (7) then. It is called the 1st Brewhouse perhaps because they were the first to secure the license to open up a microbrewery in the country and of course the first in Maharashtra to open one.

This visit of mine came on a sunny Friday afternoon when I was in town for biz. And work over drinks can be very effective many a times and we found it could be very economical too. The place runs ‘factory hours’ when a pint costs your Rs 120 between 12-1700 hrs, ‘the happy hours’ from 1700-2000 when it’s Rs 150 and Rs 200 otherwise. They had five brews on the tap including an Apple Cider. We started with a refreshing German Wheat beer to begin with and didn’t fancy the Bock much, we found excess of nail varnish aromas. 1st Brewhouse offers both indoor and outdoor seating; we chose the latter in the surrounding of the idyllic Corinthian’s resort. We went on to guzzle their IPA and Apple Ciders as we saw the close of the ‘Factory Hours’. Great place to be and good beer, their Indian food selection is the perfect match and the stuffed tandoori mushrooms stood out for us.

Go Chug!
