Mumbai, India
Royal Oak being the only microbrewery in Navi Mumbai was on my priority go-to list. I finally managed to make it on a weekday night. The place was rather full which was a good sight to see, empty places make me apprehensive! Speaking of the ambience, it felt like a hotchpotch of colored lights random frames and the whole set-up didn’t seem very comforting and looked rather shady.
Nonetheless we had made up our minds to be there and we got the beer samplers, a couple of wheat beers, a Marzen, rye ale and a coffee stout. They all tasted fresh however the German wit was our choice. We also tried the Strawberry beer, a smart move to mix syrup and beer; it tasted sweet and recommended for friends who are trying to come to terms with the malt. The food menu is a combination of bar grub which includes Indian, Chindian and Western food and main courses again from the said cuisines. We ordered a Paneer Chilly and their Cheese Kabab. The portion sizes are generous, the pricing is great and they are done up to perfection. The cheese kebab in particular was fried cardamom scented paneer and cheese patty. Kudos to the kitchen team! The main course was penne aglio olio;was tossed al-dente however the oil was not reminiscent of any olives; we had to enhance it up with a helping of parmesan.
The service team was prompt and friendly Overall a good VFM place to be for beers and food!
