The ‘dhaba’ concept on once quaint and now buzzing Mira-Bhayander Ghodbunder road stretch has certainly picked up over years. I have been on this stretch quite a few times but never dined here, when an opportunity came I seized it and Velkar farms was first the brand recall, it got etched in my memory a few years back when a few friends from school raved about it. We reached the venue and were glad to discover that the place has opened a couple of weeks back after remaining shut for over 8 months, our trip didn’t go futile you see!
This place has a resort like feel with the expanse of land, the open air seating in private canopies and impressively it also has an indoor air-conditioned section with a gymkhana bar feel to it. We decide to go in for a Tamatar Dhania Shorba to begin with, spicy and bursting with flavours and chilli spice, it was complemented well with the rains. The accompaniment Namak Para never came and the server had no clue on what it was, we eventually understood that it wasn’t available. The soup gave us a good start! The veg-tandoori platter which came next was a dampener not in terms for food it was good, but the portion size was dismal. Despite us raising a concern they didn’t bother much. The main course of Chole, Paneer and breads was again cooked to perfection.
Overall a lovely place with some very good food but they lack customer focus. There is no supervision on the floor and it is left to some cheerful and soft-spoken boys who lack menu knowledge and are certainly not empowered to deal with customer issues.
